Anti- farmers bills being passed in India
India has introduced 3 new laws as of September 2020: The farmers (empowerment and protection) agreement of price assurance and farm services bill The essential commodities (amendment) bill The farmers produce trade and commerce (promotion and facilitation) bill There have been many protests happening in India, mainly in Punjab due to the introduction of these bills that are essentially going against the farmers of India. With these new bills the government is trying to control the agriculture sector. With the new bills being introduced, the farmers of Punjab, India will suffer even more debt than they already do as their crops will be selling for even less than due to no price guarantee for the produce the farmers are trying to sell.
